Country Dance Events

2008 and 2009 COUNTRY DANCE SCHEDULE

All dances are open to the public and are held at the TAUNTON ELKS LODGE, 119 High Street, TAUNTON, MA, 508-824-7878, usually on the SECOND SATURDAY of each month (except March 2009 - see schedule below).

Extra dances may be scheduled if the Taunton Elks Hall or other affordable location is available and volunteers are available. Contact Down East Dancers with suggested affordable dance locations with comparable dance floor size and your dates that you can volunteer to help out.

DIRECTIONS to the Taunton Elks Lodge: Follow Route 24 North or South to Exit 13 B, US 44 West, and follow for about 2.4 miles. At the Taunton Green, continue to follow signs to stay on Rt. 44 around the Green; Turn Right onto High Street at the traffic light; Taunton Elks driveway will be directly on your left.

Couples or Line Dance instruction at 7:30 p.m. by different instructors each month. Dancing for couples, line dancing and mixers: 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. The various DJs play LOTS of GOOD, danceable Country music for all styles and levels of dancing. Line dancers and couples are able to dance, at the same time, to most every selection played.

A half-pot drawing and pot-luck refreshment table are also featured. Cash bar available for all beverages. ATTENDANCE has been averaging 100 or more Country dancers per monthly dance. Admission is only $7!

Down East Dancers, Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer, charitable organization, dedicated to the promotion of Country Western dance since 1990.

Down East Dancers, Inc. also sponsors periodic dance workshops that are open to the public. All dances and workshops are smoke-free.

Down East Dancers, Inc. has sponsored Special Holiday Reunion Country Dances at Moseley's on the Charles Ballroom, Dedham, MA, in past years, with over 200 dancers attending.

Membership is open, year round. All are invited to join Down East Dancers, Inc. and membership forms are available in the Navigator Newsletter, at the dances or a form can be mailed to you. Single membership: $15; Two memberships at the same address: $25.

Membership includes The Navigator Newsletter; two free tickets, per member, to a regular dance; FREE admission to the February Annual Meeting and Election Dance to members who attend and vote at that meeting; Advance notice of Down East Dancers workshops and other dance functions. Free admission to Down East Dancers sponsored Workshops.
